U.S. President Donald Trump signaled optimism Thursday on the high-level trade talks with China as officials from the two sides met for a second day in Washington seeking a settlement for the months-old trade war.

“Meetings are going well with good intent and spirit on both sides,” Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday morning.

“China’s representatives and I are trying to do a complete deal, leaving NOTHING unresolved on the table,” Trump tweeted. “All of the many problems are being discussed and will be hopefully resolved.”

Trump also hinted at a potential meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping for a final deal.

“No final deal will be made until my friend President Xi, and I, meet in the near future to discuss and agree on some of the long standing and more difficult points,” he wrote.

CNBC reported citing sources that U.S. and Chinese officials are discussing a potential meeting between Trump and Xi to take place in late February. The meeting would occur after a summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and just before the March 2 deadline for a U.S.-China trade deal, the American TV network said.

A Chinese delegation led by Vice Premier Liu He began a two-day meeting Wednesday morning at the White House complex with U.S. officials led by U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

They’re the highest-level talks since Trump sat down with Xi Dec. 1 in Argentina and declared a 90-day truce to reach a lasting deal to end the trade war.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Liu Thursday afternoon.
